In the beginning…

Okay, so I’ve decided to start a blog.

Okay, so that makes me a blogger, along with a gazillion other people. So why do this?

I confess that I don’t “get” social media. I mean, I understand the concept, but I think that there are too many platforms, and thus it’s difficult to send out a uniform message. And, it’s far too easy for that message to be buried amongst the barrage of competing messages. Then I discovered that Squarespace, my website host, offers a nifty blog feature. And, because it’s a blog, all my entries are maintained on my web page. Cool. This seems much more chill to me than the frantic pace of social media.

My first post is to mark the beginning of a new chapter in my journey: I’ve decided to remain independent as an author. Book Three is done, and I didn’t propose it to any publishers. I’m going to release it on my own. I like the flexibility that independent publishing gives me, and it scratches that entrepreneurial itch.

Most importantly, being independent removes the middleman (such as a publisher or agent) between my readers and me.

That direct connection, in fact, has been the most rewarding outcome since I independently published False Assurances and Threat Bias in May 2020. Hearing directly from readers has been awesome. And I look forward to hearing more from readers as Book Three starts making the rounds.

What's next, you might ask? Well, a lot! In the coming weeks and months, I’m going to bring my readers along on the journey, as the Ben Porter Series continues.

I am grateful for your support!
